Manchester United old boy Ighalo opens hat-trick account for new Saudi club
Published: September 15, 2023
Former Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo has scored his first hat-trick for new Saudi Arabian Pro League club Al Wehda FC.
Ighalo's hat-trick was scored in Al Wehda's 4-2 win over 10-man Damac FC on Thursday night at the King Abdul Aziz Stadium.
The Nigerian forward opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a powerful shot but Assan Ceesay restored parity for Damak.
The 2019 AFCON Golden Boot winner gave his side the lead before the end of the first half from the penalty spot after Nour Al-Rashidi committed a foul which led to his sending-off.
Ighalo got his third goal in the 52nd minute before Craig Goodwin increased the lead in the 62nd minute for the home side.
Sultan Faqihi pulled one back for Damac but that did not harm Al Wehda's victory.
Ighalo joined the Red Giant last month and got his first goal in the club's 1-0 triumph over Al Tai FC.
The 34-year-old has now played 4 games for the Mecca-based outfit in the Saudi Pro League and has netted 4 goals.
