Iwobi scores first goal in Fulham colours after logging 114 minutes, bettering Arsenal and Super Eagles mark
Published: September 27, 2023
Alex Iwobi was among the scorers as Fulham progressed to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup after a 2-1 win over Norwich City at Craven Cottage on Wednesday night, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
In what was his starting debut for the Cottagers, the Nigeria international scored a crucial second goal in the 72nd minute when he slotted into the bottom corner after he was played in by Harry Wilson.
Overall, Iwobi logged 114 minutes combined spread across three games before opening his goalscoring account for Fulham - the second fastest time it has taken for the midfielder to get off the mark for clubs and country.
The Hale End Academy graduate totaled 573 minutes in fourteen matches - comprising two in the UEFA Champions League, five in the FA Cup, one in the League Cup and six in the Premier League - before scoring his first goal for Arsenal in a league game versus Everton on March 19, 2016.
The quickest time he has scored for his club was at Everton, where he needed only 108 minutes.
On his full debut for the Toffees, Iwobi netted in the 81st minute in a 4-2 win over Lincoln City in the League Cup on August 28, 2019.
He totaled 233 minutes combined in seven matches before his first Super Eagles goal and it came in a 2018 World Cup qualifier against Zambia.
