Leicester's box-to-box midfielder Ndidi nominated for PFA Championship Fans' Player of the Month
Published: October 06, 2023
Wilfred Ndidi has been nominated for the PFA Championship Fans' Player of the Month award for September following his outstanding performances for Leicester City.
The Nigeria international is flourishing in his new role as a box-to-box midfielder with six goal involvements in thirteen matches across all competitions.
He was involved in the four matches played by Leicester City in the month of September and the highlight of his performance was his poacher's finish in a 4-1 win at Southampton on September 15.
The Super Eagles assistant captain netted his first goal in the Championship in first half stoppage time when he received a pass from Stephy Mavididi and dribbled past his marker before putting the ball beyond the reach of Gavin Bazunu, the Southampton goalkeeper.
Last month, Ndidi started against Hull City, Southampton and Bristol City and was given minutes off the bench in a 2-0 win against Norwich City.
The Leicester City number 25 and five other players have been shortlisted for the PFA Championship Fans' Player of the Month award, which is voted for by supporters.
Also nominated are Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Ipswich Town forward Nathan Broadhead, Sunderland's Jack Clarke, Plymouth’s Morgan Whittaker and Liam Lindsay of Preston North End.
Ndidi has been called up by Nigeria manager Jose Peseiro for the upcoming internationals against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.
