Eight things to note on Super Eagles starting lineup against Mozambique
Published: October 16, 2023Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro has announced his starting lineup for the international friendly match against Mozambique at the Estadio Municipal De Albufeira Portimao.

1) The average age of today's starting lineup is 25.09 years, with Kenneth Omeruo the oldest at 29 years and Raphael Onyedika the youngest at 22 years and 180 days.
2) Jose Peseiro has made nine changes from the side that drew with Saudi Arabia, bringing in Bright Osayi-Samuel, Kenneth Omeruo, Jordan Torunarigha, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Frank Onyeka, Raphael Onyedika, Moses Simon, Joe Aribo and Terem Moffi.
3) Seven of the eleven players named in the starting lineup are age 25 and younger: Uzoho, Osayi-Samuel, Onyemaechi, Onyeka, Onyedika, Dele-Bashiru, Moffi.
4) Francis Uzoho has now started five of the six games played by the Super Eagles in 2023, more than any other player in the squad.
5) Five of the starters have ties to English clubs. Kenneth Omeruo, Osayi-Samuel and Dele-Bashiru were previously on the books of Chelsea, Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City respectively, while Frank Onyeka (Brentford) and Joe Aribo (Southampton) currently play for English clubs.
6) Three starters are products of Nigeria youth teams: Uzoho (Golden Eaglets), Omeruo (Golden Eaglets, Flying Eagles) and Moses Simon (Flying Eagles).
7) Three players represent clubs in the top five European leagues : Onyeka (English Premier League), Moses Simon (French Ligue 1), Terem Moffi (French Ligue 1).
8) The outfield players have scored a combined fourteen goals at international level: Simon (8), Moffi (3), Aribo ( 2), Omeruo (1)
