Talented Denmark U17 international of Nigerian descent, Chido Obi on Tuesday became the fourth youngest player to make his debut for Arsenal in the prestigious UEFA Youth League after he was named in the starting lineup for the matchday three fixture against Sevilla at the Jesus Navas Stadium.
Aged 15 years and 329 days, Obi is the fourth player to feature for Arsenal in the UEFA Youth League before turning 16.
Only Kaylen Hinds (15 years, 7 months and 21 days), Trae Coyle (15 years, 8 months and 17 days) and current Arsenal first teamer Reiss Nelson (15 years, 9 months and 6 days) were younger when they made their UEFA Youth League debut.
Obi is in his final season as a schoolboy at Arsenal and is recognised as one of the top talents in the academy with three goals in six career appearances in the U18 Premier League.
The Gunners saw off competition from London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur to sign him on a schoolboy deal which concludes in June 2024.
The Danish-Nigerian center forward is already guaranteed a scholarship deal for the 2024-2025 season.
Sevilla led 2-0 at the break with Alberto Collado and Jose Antonio Lopez getting on the scoresheet but Charles Sagoe Jr halved the deficit for the Gunners with seven minutes left on the clock.
Arsenal have suffered three consecutive defeats to to PSV Eindhoven, RC Lens and Sevilla in the group stages of the UEFA Youth League.
