Arsenal-owned GK Okonkwo provides secondary assist, bags another clean sheet in Wrexham win
Published: October 28, 2023
Arsenal loanee Arthur Okonkwo kept a clean sheet and provided a secondary assist in Wrexham's 2-0 victory over Notts County on matchday 16 of the English Football League Two played on Saturday afternoon at Meadow Lane.
Before the Red Dragons broke the deadlock, Okonkwo had to make some vital saves to deny the home side from taking the lead and also had to prevent David McGoldrick from drawing level for Notts County after Elliot Lee had given the away side the lead.
Besides his saves, the 22-year-old also played a role in the build-up to Wrexham's second goal in the 76th minute of the encounter.
The Hale End product made a long clearance that wasn't cleared by Notts County's defence and the ball fell to Paul Mullin who fed it to the goalscorer Ollie's Palmer.
Okonkwo has now made eight appearances across all competitions for Wrexham and today's clean sheet is his fourth for the League Two outfit and the 20th of his professional career.
The former England underage international posted sixteen clean sheets combined for Crewe Alexandra and Sturm Graz in 2022-2023.
