'Spurs are a great side' - Chelsea U18s Nigeria coach admits after losing 7-goal thriller to table-toppers
Published: October 31, 2023
Chelsea U18s' Nigerian coach, Hassan Sulaiman has labeled Tottenham Hotspur a great side after the Young Blues lost a seven-goal thriller in an U18 Premier League South London derby this past weekend.
Three Nigeria-eligible players were on the scoresheet as Tottenham Hotspur came from behind to beat the hosts 4-3.
Tottenham Hotspur opened up a three-point gap at the top of the U18 Premier League table after the win against Chelsea, thanks to Damola Ajayi's sensational match-winning strike in the fourth minute of second half stoppage time.
Fullback Somto Boniface opened the scoring for the Blues in the 25th minute while Tyrique George found the net to make it 3-2 in favour of Chelsea at minute 69.
Speaking to Chelsea's official website, Sulaiman said: "Spurs are a great side and it shows through their position in the league. We are also a great side but we want to make sure we are hitting our targets and improving every day.
"There is still a lot of work to do for us to get to where we want to be but I am sure we can get to that place."
Chelsea are second in the U18 Premier League table with fifteen points accumulated after seven matches.
Hassan Sulaiman and his team will return to action on November 25 when they take on Blackburn Rovers in the U18 Premier League Cup.
