Leicester City target move for Villarreal forward amid uncertainty over the future of Iheanacho
Published: November 08, 2023
Leicester City are have set their sights on former Nottingham Forest forward Ben Brereton Díaz as a replacement for Kelechi Iheanacho.
According to Caughtoffside, the East Midlands club have joined Burnley and Crystal Palace in the race to sign the Chile international.
Díaz joined Villarreal from Blackburn Rovers in the summer but has struggled to make an impact, failing to find the back of the net for the Yellow Submarine in 10 appearances spread across 361 minutes.
Rather than an outright sale, the 2020/2021 UEFA Europa League winners are considering letting him leave on a loan deal in January.
Iheanacho is running into the final months of his contract with the one-time Premier League champions and will be free to sign a pre-contract with any club in January.
The Nigerian has played a part in the Foxes' impressive start to the season which has placed them in a good position to return to the English top flight next season
Iheanacho is the club's Championship joint-top scorer in Enzo Maresca's side, with 5 goals in 15 appearances.
