Leicester City striker reports for Super Eagles duty ahead of 2026 World Cup qualifiers

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Kelechi Iheanacho has reported for international duty in Uyo ahead of the Super Eagles' 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe. 

 

An Ibom Air flight brought the  Leicester City striker to the Akwa Ibom State capital, Uyo on Monday at exactly 1817 hours and after going through the airport procedures, he hopped in a car bound for the Super Eagles' team hotel.

 

Earlier today, the trio of Kasimpasa central defender Kenneth Omeruo , Cardiff City left-back Jamilu Collins and Real Sociedad striker Sadiq Umar checked into camp. 

 

Manager Jose Peseiro expects that majority of the twenty three players called up for the double header would have arrived in camp by Tuesday, November 14.

 

The likes of Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Chidozie Awaziem, Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi were in action for their respective clubs on Sunday.

 

Other invitees that played for their European clubs yesterday included Bright Osayi-Samuel, Raphael Onyedika, Frank Onyeka, Moses Simon, Ademola Lookman, Nathan Tella and Victor Boniface. 

 

Nigeria begin their quest to qualify for the 2026 World Cup on Thursday when they face Lesotho at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, before heading to Rwanda to take on Zimbabwe at Huye Stadium Butare on Monday, November 19, with kickoff scheduled for 1700 hours and 1400 hours respectively.
