Reigning Championship POTY Akpom open to the idea of PL move amid Fulham, Crystal Palace interest
Published: November 27, 2023
Reigning EFL Championship Player of the Year Chuba Akpom is being linked with a return to England, three months after a celebrated move to four-time European champions Ajax Amsterdam.
Akpom has found game time difficult to come by at Ajax Amterdam, making just two starts from a possible seventeen in all competitions since landing in the Netherlands.
Having struggled in his first two months at Ajax, the Super Eagles hopeful is enjoying a new lease of life under new manager John van 't Schip, scoring five goals in his last five matches.
According to TEAMtalk, Crystal Palace and Fulham are amongst the clubs who have enquired about the availability of the Hale End academy product.
Other clubs monitoring his situation with a view to a transfer in the January transfer window include Everton, Burnley, Luton Town and Sheffield United.
As per the report, Akpom is open to the idea of a move to the Premier League and it has been claimed that Ajax Amsterdam are ready to consider loaning out their number 10 for the second part of the 2023-2024 season.
The 28-year-old registered four appearances in the Premier League during his time at boyhood club Arsenal.
His contract with Ajax Amsterdam expires at the end of the 2027-2028 season.
