Iheanacho among Leicester City players to be assessed ahead of visit to Birmingham City
Published: December 15, 2023
Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho could be in contention to feature for Leicester City in their matchday 22 fixture against Birmingham City on Monday night at the St. Andrew's Stadium.
This is premised on the statement on the Foxes' official website and credited to the club's manager Enzo Marseca which stated that the Nigerian forward alongside Marc Albrighton, Yunus Akgün and Harry Souttar will be assessed ahead of the game on Monday.
Iheanacho has not featured in the last two games for Leicester City with his last game being their 2-1 win over West Brom earlier this month.
The 27-year-old has been injured alongside strike partner Jamie Vardy with Zambia international Patson Daka covering up for the duo
Iheanacho has failed to score since October 21 and has his work cut out with Daka making the most of his absence, scoring 2 goals and registering an assist in the past two games.
The Manchester City academy product has six goal involvements (5 goals, one assist) in 18 games for the one-time Premier League champions in the Championship this season.
Since suffering back-to-back defeats in their first two games last month, Maresca's side are unbeaten in their last 5 league games and sit atop the table with 52 points, one point clear of second-placed Ipswich Town.
