'I feel sorry for them' - Terem Moffi predicts Jeremie Boga's Ivory Coast will lose at home to Nigeria
Published: January 11, 2024
Terem Moffi has predicted that Côte d'Ivoire will suffer a defeat when they face off with Nigeria in their second group game of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium, Abidjan on January 18, 2024.
Moffi has been added to Nigeria's AFCON roster as a replacement for Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface who withdrew from the squad due to a muscle-tendon injury in the right adductor area during the Nigerian training camp in Abu Dhabi.
The OGC Nice striker will report for international duty on Sunday, January 14, meaning it is all but confirmed that he will play no part in Nigeria's opener against Equatorial Guinea.
He could make his Africa Cup of Nations debut against the Elephants, who have in their ranks Chelsea youth product Jeremie Boga, who is now a teammate of Moffi at OGC Nice.
Moffi has warned his teammate Boga that the Elephants will lose to the Super Eagles despite their home advantage.
Speaking to Ligue 1's YouTube page, Moffi said: "In the second round (group game) we play against Cote d'Ivoire, Jeremie Boga, so it will be really special.
"I always tell him they will lose at home to Nigeria. I feel sorry for them, for him."
Moffi is a household name in the French Ligue 1, having mustered 46 goals in 119 matches while registering 12 assists.
