CAF's Move of the Day: Chelsea-reared defender Aina wins it with incredible skill made popular by Pele
Published: January 28, 2024
Chelsea-reared defender Ola Aina is earning rave reviews for his outstanding performances at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria legends Segun Odegbami and Daniel Amokachi have gushed over the brilliant showing of the Nottingham Forest star, highlighting that he is one of the most skillfull players in the talented Nigerian side.
Aina has not had a bad game since the start of the tournament in Ivory Coast and has showcased his versatility by playing as a left-back, right-back, left wing-back and right wing-back.
He impressed once again as Nigeria registered a comfortable 2-0 victory over Cameroon to advance to the last eight of the Africa Cup of Nations.
As informed by the Confederation of African Football on their official X handle, the Super Eagles number 2 won the Move of the Day for the rabona skill he produced during the win against the Indomitable Lions.
Receiving the ball on the right flank, Aina pulled off the skill as he attempted to return the pass to Frank Onyeka but the move collapsed as the Super Eagles number 8 was blocked by a Cameroon player.
The rabona move was popularized by Brazil legend Pele and other exponents of the incredible skill are Diego Maradona, Roberto Baggio, Ronaldinho, Neymar and back home Austin Okocha.
