'I think they will be ready for tomorrow' - Peseiro keeping fingers crossed on availability of Musa, Osayi-Samuel
Published: February 01, 2024Jose Peseiro has refused to rule out Ahmed Musa and Bright Osayi-Samuel from Friday's 2023 Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal match between Nigeria and Angola.
Local media reports suggested that the right-back and winger have no chance of featuring against the Palancas Negras as they are both recovering from injuries.
However, Musa and Osayi-Samuel were among the twenty-five players that were involved in the Super Eagles final workout on Thursday, on the eve of the meeting with Angola.
In today's closed door training session, for the first fifteen minutes open to the media, the two players took part in all the exercises without issues, and the same applies to Stanley Nwabali and William Troost-Ekong.
Peseiro has confirmed that Musa and Osayi-Samuel had been feeling some pain but he's hopeful of having both available for selection on Friday.
In an interview with Channels Television's English-based reporter Austin Okon Akpan, monitored by allnigeriasoccer.com, Peseiro said: "There is injury in this moment. Bright Osayi-Samuel and Ahmed Musa have some pain, but I think they will be ready for the match tomorrow."
Osayi-Samuel has played in all the games contested by the Super Eagles at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, while captain Ahmed Musa has been a non-playing substitute in four consecutive matches.
