Allnigeriasoccer.com's round-up of Nigeria-eligible players that were in action for their respective clubs in the English Premier League on Saturday, February 17.

 

In the early kickoff, Brentford were thrashed 4-1 by Liverpool in their 100th Premier League game. 

 

Darwin Núñez, Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo were on target for the Reds, while Ivan Toney netted a consolation for the Bees at the Gtech Community Stadium. 

 

Despite his heroics at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka did not crack Brentford's starting lineup.

 

He came off the bench in the 63rd minute and was shown a yellow card nine minutes later for tripping Ibrahima Konate. 

 

At Craven Cottage, Alex Iwobi entered the game as a substitute at halftime as Fulham suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Unai Emery's Aston Villa.

 

Aston Villa established a two-goal advantage before the hour mark thanks to a brace from Ollie Watkins but Rodrigo Muniz scored at the near post to reduce the deficit at minute 63.

 

While Calvin Bassey was brought on with fifteen minutes remaining, fellow centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo was a non-playing substitute. 

 

Dominic Solanke, the top-scoring 'Englishman', now has fourteen goals to his name after netting the opening goal in the 51st minute of Bournemouth's 2-2 draw with Newcastle United at St James' Park. 

 

After Magpies number 10 Anthony Gordon restored parity from the spot, the Anglo-Nigerian forward provided an assist in the 69th minute when he teed up Ghana national teamer Antoine Semenyo. 


Matt Ritchie prodded in from close range in stoppage time to pinch a point for Newcastle United.

 

At the City Ground, Taiwo Awoniyi broke the deadlock as Nottingham Forest returned to winning ways by beating West Ham United 2-0 . 

 

In first half stoppage time, the Super Eagles striker turned and finished clinically after he was played in by Nicolás Domínguez, taking his tally to 6 goals in 14 matches in the process. 

 

Former Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi finished the job in the 94th minute when he smashed home from inside the area.

 

Ola Aina is back at Forest after his commitments with Nigeria at the 2023 AFCON but was not called up for the visit of the Hammers. 

 

Tottenham Hotspur lost ground in the race for the top four after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. 

 

Destiny Udogie is recovering from a knee issue and was not named in the matchday squad by Ange Postecoglou.

 

João Gomes was the hero for Wolves as he scored in each half while Dejan Kulusevski netted for Tottenham. 

 

At Turf Moor, Arsenal blew Burnley away to keep the pressure on their title rivals, scoring five goals without reply.


Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka (2), Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz were on target in a ruthless attacking display by the Gunners.

 

Italy youth teamer Luca Koleosho has not figured in the last ten league matches played by the Clarets due to a knee injury.
