The reason Elijah Adebayo is not playing against Man Utd despite initial inclusion in Luton's starting XI
Published: February 18, 2024
Luton Town striker Elijah Adebayo didn't appear when his teammates took the field to face Manchester United in a Premier League encounter on Sunday afternoon despite being named in the starting lineup.
It was eventually gathered that the Super Eagles-eligible striker picked up a knock that led to him being replaced by Cauley Woodrow.
Adebayo's miss is a big blow to the Hatters who were hoping to return to winning ways after their defeat to Sheffield United last weekend and strengthen their hopes of staying in the Premier League.
The 26-year-old has been in strong form in recent weeks and has played an instrumental role in Luton's upturn in fortune in recent weeks, scoring 7 goals in the last nine games including a goal apiece against Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea.
This led to his nomination for EA Sports Premier League Player of the Month for January but lost out on the award to Liverpool forward Diogo Jota.
Adebayo has scored 9 goals in twenty-three appearances in his first season in the English top flight.
Rob Edwards will now be hoping that their star striker is not out for as long as they seek to preserve their stay in the Premier League.
