Game changers: Three Indomitable Lionesses players Super Falcons must be wary of in Olympic qualifiers

The stage is set for a fiery encounter as the Super Falcons  lock horns with their arch-rivals, the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon, in the first leg of the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers third round on Friday, February 23rd.

While the absence of the influential Njoya Ajara is a blow for Cameroon, the Lionesses remain a force to be reckoned with, boasting a young and talented squad eager to prove themselves.

Among them, allnigeriasoccer.com has identified three key players the Super Falcons must keep a close eye on:

1. Ndanza Fegue Collette:

The Lionesses' defensive solidity starts with the resolute Ndanza Fegue Collette. This young defender, who currently plays for Stade de Reims in France, is quickly establishing herself as a cornerstone of the Cameroonian backline.

Her agility, strength, and aerial prowess make her a formidable barrier for any attacker. Collette's ability to read the game and anticipate danger will be crucial in thwarting the Super Falcons' potent attack, led by the likes of Asisat Oshoala and Omorinsola Babjide.

The Nigerians must be wary of her overlapping runs down the right flank, as she also poses an attacking threat with her precise crosses.

2. Ngock Yango Grace

The engine room of the Lionesses is powered by the energetic Ngock Yango Grace. This talented midfielder, currently plying her trade for EA Guingamp in the French league, is a box-to-box dynamo.

Her tireless work ethic, intelligent passing, and ability to win tackles in midfield will be instrumental in disrupting the Falcons' rhythm and controlling the tempo of the game.

Grace's vision and creativity can also unlock the Lionesses' attack, feeding dangerous balls to Gabrielle Onguene. The Falcons' midfielders must be prepared to match her intensity and close down the spaces she exploits.

3. Gabrielle Onguene:

Needing no introduction, the electrifying Gabrielle Onguene remains a constant threat for any defense.

The CSKA Moscow forward is a nightmare for defenders with her blistering pace, dazzling footwork, and clinical finishing.

Her directness and ability to cut inside and shoot with either foot make her unpredictable, and she has a powerful long-range shot that can catch goalkeepers off guard.

With Njoya's absence, Onguene might shoulder even more attacking responsibility, potentially operating in a more central role.

The Super Falcons' full-backs and central defenders will need to be disciplined and alert to contain her, as she can single-handedly change the course of the game.
