Chelsea post scouts to run the rule over Osimhen in Napoli's 1-1 draw against Barcelona
Published: February 22, 2024According to HITC, Chelsea scouts were in attendance during Napoli's 1-1 draw with Barcelona in a UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash at the Diego Maradona Stadium on Wednesday night.
The report stated that one of the players watched was Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen who starred in the encounter by scoring Napoli's only goal, with the other being Barcelona defender Jules Kounde.
Chelsea's interest in Osimhen is no secret and while there have been recent reports that the club are exploring alternatives, there is no doubt that they will do all it takes to sign the Nigerian striker.
It has been claimed that former Blues stars John Obi Mikel and Didier Drogba have been trying to convince the Napoli forward to join the two-time European champions.
At the moment, the battle to sign the 25-year-old is between the Premier League giants and PSG who want him to replace the departing Kylian Mbappé.
While Osimhen has previously expressed of his desire to play in the Premier League, PSG are ready to offer the Nigeria international a lucrative deal which might also play a significant role in the race to win his signature.
The 25-year-old has a release clause of around 100 million pounds in the new deal he signed with Napoli before he reported for Africa Cup of Nations duty.
