'We still can't rule out Arsenal' - Transfer insider claims Gunners can compete with Chelsea, PSG for Osimhen
Published: February 25, 2024
Transfer insider Ben Jacobs has reckoned that Arsenal can compete with PSG and Chelsea for the signing of Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen is set to be the subject of a transfer tussle in the summer as his stay at Napoli looks likley to come to an end and the race for his signature has started.
Arsenal have also been linked with a move for the Nigeria international but there has been uncertainty as to whether they can afford his services as compared to PSG and Chelsea.
Jacobs, who is a transfer specialist, has now said that the Gunners can afford to sign the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner and that the star striker would prefer a move to the Premier League.
"We still can't rule out Arsenal in the race for Osimhen," he told GIVEMESPORT.
"It's also true that PSG have Osimhen very, very high on their list of targets and can move in the market because they will free up money due to Kylian Mbappe's departure."
"I'm still told by sources that Osimhen's priority is the Premier League, which is encouraging for Chelsea and Arsenal. He would be looking for about £250,000 per week, which Arsenal, Chelsea and PSG would all be happy to pay."
Arsenal want to improve their central attacking options and the reason why they are being linked with Osimhen is not far-fetched.
The 25-year-old helped Napoli end their long wait for the Serie A title and has become one of the best strikers in Europe with his proficiency in front of goal and his impressive hold-up play.
Undoubtedly, the race for the signing of the star striker will be one to watch in the next transfer window and it won't be surprising to see other clubs join PSG, Chelsea, and Arsenal in the race for his signature.
