Fabrizio Romano reveals Bodo/Glimt on brink of deal for Umar who made a splash at Viareggio Cup
Published: February 29, 2024
Highly-rated Nigerian striker Hafiz Ibrahim Umar is close to joining Norwegian top division side FK Bodø/Glimt from Lagos-based-side Ojodu City.
According to Italian transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the Norwegian outfit is closing in on a deal for the young striker.
Ibrahim was one of the best players at the just-concluded Viareggio Cup, which is considered one of the best youth football tournaments in the world.
He played a key role in Ojodu City reaching the semifinal where they lost to eventual winners Beyond Limits, scoring 10 goals and emerging as the top scorer for the competition.
He has been scouted by several teams in Europe including Serie A giants Inter Milan and AC Milan but is now on the verge of joining Bodø/Glimt, as reported by Romano.
Former Flying Eagles striker Akor Adams also played for the Norwegian outfit and impressed in their colors before joining Ligue 1 side Montpellier last summer.
Hopefully, Ibrahim will follow the footsteps of his fellow countryman, settle like a duck in water in Norway and move to one of the top five leagues in Europe soon.
