After hat-trick against Fiorentina youth, Nigerian striker Agada fires warning to defenders pre-African Games
Published: March 05, 2024
Nigerian striker Charles Agada has fired a warning to defenders ahead of Nigeria's opening game against Uganda at the 2023 African Games.
The Mavlon FC starlet linked up with the Flying Eagles at their training camp after making a splash at the recently concluded Viareggio Cup, where he notched eight goals including a hat-trick against Fiorentina youth team.
Aged 17, Agada has been promoted to the Flying Eagles for the tournament in Ghana after catching the eye for the Golden Eaglets at the 2023 Africa U17 Cup of Nations.
Ladan Bosso's Flying Eagles will also take on South Sudan, Senegal and Tunisia in Group B of the men's football event at the African Games as they aim to win the gold medal for the first time in fifty-one years.
Agada is brimming with confidence heading into the tournament in Ghana having already faced some of the best young players in the world at the Viareggio Cup.
Speaking to Francis Achi of Totori News, he said: "I feel so happy and I'm not under pressure. I know it's not easy, I have gone for a lot of trials. I went to Sevilla, Villarreal so it's not a big thing.
"I have played with foreign players who are better than the players we have here.
"I am not under pressure so I can take anybody on here. When I go there to the African Games I will make sure I deliver.
"Any defender that wants to face me must be ready because I'm there to represent Nigeria very well. If you're not ready I will dominate him with my power."
Agada registered a goal and an assist in the Golden Eaglets 3-2 win over South Africa at the 2023 Africa U17 Cup of Nations.
