Well known for scoring spectacular goals: George nominated for Chelsea GOTM for fifth consecutive month
Published: March 05, 2024
Nigeria-eligible winger Tyrique George has made a name for himself for scoring spectacular goals and he's in the running yet again for Chelsea's Goal of the Month award.
The official website of Chelsea has selected eight stellar strikes across the men's, women's, and Academy sides up for the prize of Chelsea’s Goal of the Month for February 2024, and George has been shortlisted for his effort against Crystal Palace U18s.
George has been nominated for the monthly accolade for the fifth month in a row, having also been shortlisted for the award in October, November, December, and January.
The Anglo-Nigerian teenager failed to secure the awards as Mykhailo Mudryk, Raheem Sterling, Cole Palmer and Lauren James claimed the honors for October, November, December, and January respectively.
Against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup, George doubled the advantage in the 68th minute when he collected the ball outside the penalty area and unleashed a shot that gave the Eagles goalkeeper no chance.
Enzo Fernandez, Erin Cuthbert, Mayra Ramirez, Conor Gallagher, Raheem Sterling, Jimmy-Jay Morgan and Nicolas Jackson are also up for Chelsea Goal of the Month award after scoring in February.
George has scored fifteen goals in all competitions for Chelsea youth teams so far this season comprising six in the U18 Premier League, eight in cup competitions and one in the Premier League 2.
Chelsea will announce the winner of the Goal of the Month before the end of the week.
