Super Eagles-eligible midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has revealed what he was told by Mauricio Pochettino before coming on during Chelsea's dramatic win over Leicester City in the quarterfinal of the FA Cup played on Sunday afternoon.
With the score level at 2-2, the 20-year-old was brought on by Pochettino to replace Mykhailo Mudryk, twelve minutes before the end of the normal regulation time as the Blues searched for a winning goal.
Chukwuemeka would go on to score the winning goal in the second minute of the stoppage time, combining well with Cole Palmer, to score his first goal since last August.
Speaking to BBC after their victory over Leicester City, the Anglo-Nigerian midfielder revealed what he was told by Pochettino before coming on against the Championship table-toppers
"The coach said go on and express yourself, which I did.Cole said to me before the game, if I come on, he will assist me and fair play. His IQ is amazing, I knew as soon as I played it, he would find me. Fair play to him," Chukwuemeka said.
The England youth international also expressed his desire and that of his teammates to win the FA Cup.
"We wanted to win a trophy this season, now we're in the last four so hopefully, we can still do that."
Chelsea have been paired with Manchester City in the semifinal in a one-legged tie that will be played at the Wembley Stadium after the international break.
Chukwuemeka's goal today was his second for Chelsea since joining the club but it was his first ever in the FA Cup.
