Liverpool and Tottenham keen on potential deal for highly-rated Nigerian central defender
Published: March 19, 2024
Premier League duo Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on a potential deal for highly-rated Nigerian central defender Tosin Adarabioyo.
The future of Tosin has dominated the back pages since the end of last season as his contract is set to run out at the end of the 2023-2024 campaign.
Fulham are pushing to extend the contract of the Manchester City academy product but he has kept them waiting on his final decision as of now.
According to Football Insider, Liverpool and Tottenham are battling to sign the Manchester-born center-back.
Tosin would certainly not be lacking Premier League suitors should he depart Fulham as a free agent come the end of the season given that he is a homegrown player and has appeared in 73 matches in the top-flight of English football.
That said, Italian Serie A and French Ligue 1 clubs are known to be monitoring his situation with a view to a move in the summer transfer window.
Tottenham attempted to sign Tosin last summer but a deal did not happen as the player wanted to join Monaco.
However, his proposed transfer to the Principality club collapsed on deadline day as Fulham didn't have a replacement lined up for him, so they pulled the plug on the deal.
It has been suggested that European teams have an advantage over Premier League clubs such as Tottenham and Liverpool, given that they can enter into a pre-contract agreement with Tosin outside of the transfer window.
