Transfer guru confirms Manchester United are interested in signing quad-national winger
Published: March 25, 2024
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, has provided an update on Manchester United's pursuit of 2021 Super Eagles invitee Michael Olise.
Born in London to a Franco-Algerian mother and Nigerian father, Olise is eligible to represent four national teams namely England, France, Nigeria and Algeria.
The Crystal Palace winger is being targeted by Jim Ratcliffe as one of the players that could change the fortune of the Red Devils as they prepare for a major shake up at the club in the summer.
Olise is viewed as an upgrade on Brazil international Antony who hasn't impressed since moving to Old Trafford two seasons ago and the reason is not far-fetched.
Despite the French youth international's struggle with fitness this term, he has nine goal contributions, three more than the Brazilian has notched in the two seasons he has played in the Premier League.
Speaking on CaughtOffside's The Debrief Podcast, Romano confirmed Manchester United's interest in the 22-year-old but said nothing is advanced so far.
"I can't guarantee that. I am still waiting to see what Man United will do in terms of direct contact; in terms of interest, he is one of the players on their list, but they've not started yet concrete contacts to advance this deal.
"It is obviously early, it is still March, but the interest is there. "
Olise has also been linked with Liverpool and Chelsea which means it won't be a stroll in the park for the Red Devils in their pursuit to sign him.
He has a release clause in the contract he signed with Crystal Palace last year but the figure can't be ascertained at the moment.
