Luton Town provide update on Gabriel Osho after defender's withdrawal from Ghana, Mali games
Published: March 29, 2024
English Premier League club Luton Town have issued a fitness update on Gabriel Osho ahead of their trip to Tottenham Hotspur for a Premier League clash.
Osho did not receive the medical all-clear to link up with the Nigeria squad for the first time at their training camp in Marrakesh, Morocco ahead of international friendlies against Ghana ( March 22) and Mali (March 26).
The central defender suffered a knee injury during the Hatters 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace on March 9, leading to his substitution in the 79th minute, and missed the subsequent matches against Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest.
Luton Town boss Rob Edwards was hoping Osho would be available for selection in his team's first game after the international break, against Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
It appears Osho has not yet received the medical green light to resume full training, with Luton Town stating on their official website that the bruising on his knee is being monitored on a day-to-day basis, which puts his participation against Tottenham in doubt.
The 25-year-old has struggled with knee problems since the back end of last season and as a result, he was unable to make his Premier League debut until October 29, 2023.
Osho has proved he has the quality to play in the Premier League when in tiptop condition with two goals in sixteen appearances prior to his spell on the sidelines.
Meanwhile, Osho's Nigerian teammate Elijah Adebayo is unlikely to be included in the squad traveling to the English capital due to a hamstring problem.
