Chukwuemeka takes part in Chelsea's final training session ahead of visit of Manchester United
Published: April 04, 2024Carney Chukwuemeka returned to team training at Chelsea ahead of Thursday's Premier League clash against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
The England youth international of Nigerian descent was spotted training with his Blues teammates at Chelsea Training Ground in Cobham on Wednesday, April 3, the team's final workout before the visit of the Red Devils.
After coming through the last training session unscathed, it remains to be seen whether he will be named in the matchday squad by manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Chukwuemeka has not featured for Chelsea since the win against Newcastle United before the international break.
The versatile midfielder returned to Chelsea sooner than expected from his international commitments with England's U21 national team in order to work on his fitness at Cobham.
He was not selected in the matchday squad as Chelsea and Burnley shared the spoils with a 2-2 draw last weekend.
The ex-Aston Villa prodigy has been plagued by injuries throughout the campaign, limiting his appearances to nine in all competitions, with just two of those as starts.
Chelsea are still without a number of players including France U21 international of Nigerian descent, Lesley Ugochukwu, who is continuing to undergo his rehabilitation programme.
Noni Madueke took part in Chelsea's final training session on Wednesday and should be named in the matchday squad to face Manchester United,.
