Race for Tosin: West Ham hoping to steal a march on Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur
Published: April 08, 2024
According to TEAMtalk, West Ham are hoping to beat fellow Premier League sides Liverpool and Tottenham to the signing of Nigerian defender Tosin Adarabioyo.
The Hammers want to bolster their center defensive options this summer and have set their sights on the Fulham defender who is also a subject of interest outside the Premier League.
They attempted to sign Manchester United center back Harry Maguire last summer but failed in their pursuit as the England international opted to stay at Old Trafford.
With no indication that Maguire has changed his mind, the reigning UEFA Europa Conference League champions hav8e now turned their attention to Tosin.
The London-based side are ready to offer the Manchester City Academy product a lucrative long-term contract and are hoping the brighter prospect of playing regular first team football persuade him to join the club.
There would be competition for the 26-year -old if he joins Liverpool who have Ibrahima Konate, Jarell Quansah and Joe Gomez and right center back options at the moment.
Likewise he will have to contend with 2022 FIFA World Cup winner Cristian Romero for a place in the starting line up at Tottenham.
Conversely, Tosin will be an upgrade on first choice right central defender Kurt Zouma at West Ham, thus enabling him to feature more regularly for David Moyes' side as compared to his other suitors.
