Promising Nigerian midfielder leaves Arsenal for Everton on scholarship deal
Published: April 13, 2024Promising Nigerian teenager Ademide Akarakiri has reportedly ended his association with Premier League giants Arsenal.
Arsenal youth team expert Jeorge Bird says Arsenal U16 midfielder Akarakiri has signed for the Toffees following his departure from Arsenal.
Bird added that it is anticipated that Akarakiri will be among Everton's intake of academy scholars for the 2024-2025 season.
As per Premier League rules, all players in their U17 year are required to start the 2024-2025 season on a scholarship agreement, before they are permitted to sign a first professional football contract on or after their 17th birthday.
Akarakiri has been described as a skillful player with impressive passing ability and was invited to train with Arsenal U18s as a schoolboy.
He didn't have the chance to make his competitive debut for the Gunners U18 squad before moving on to pastures new.
Akarakiri has followed in the footsteps of Alex Iwobi by joining Everton, where the Nigeria national teamer, a product of Arsenal's Hale End Academy, previously played before transferring to Fulham on deadline day last summer.
He links up with Nigerian forwards Francis Okoronkwo and Coby Ebere at the Everton Academy.
Former Super Eagles stars Victor Anichebe and Hope Akpan are products of the Everton Academy.
