Key statistic highlights how Osimhen dominated Roma but needs to improve his shot conversion rate
Published: April 29, 2024A key statistic from Napoli's 2-2 draw with AS Roma in a Serie A clash at the Diego Maradona Stadium on Sunday has highlighted how Victor Osimhen dominated the Giallorossi defence led by 2023 Africa Cup of Nations winner Evan Ndicka.
According to the statisticians at Whoscored, the Napoli number 9 registered eleven shots in the matchday 34 fixture, one more than the entire Roma team combined.
However, the reigning African Footballer of the Year needs to improve his shot conversion rate as only four of his shots were on target against Roma with only one ending up in the back of the net, after he successfully dispatched a penalty in the 84th minute.
It is worth pointing out that Osimhen converted just 9.09 percent of his attempted shots.
Against Roma, the Super Eagles striker ranked first for shots (11) , shots on target (4) and key passes (4), and also showed off his aerial prowess by winning a game-high three aerial duels.
It seemed Napoli were going to claim their fourteenth win of the season after Osimhen's goal but Tammy Abraham headed home with two minutes remaining to salvage a point for the Europa League semifinalist.
The 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner has scored in three of his last four matches against Roma, having fired blanks in his first three.
In his 1,786 minutes of Serie A action in the ongoing season, Osimhen has notched 14 goals.
