Report: Arsenal ready to pay N88.5b to sign Super Eagles-eligible striker
Published: May 03, 2024
Arsenal are ready to step up their interest in Super Eagles-eligible player Joshua Zirkzee in order to beat other interested clubs to his signature in the forthcoming transfer window.
According to TuttoJuve via tbrfootball, the north London club are ready to pay Bologna £51m (approximately N88.5 billion in Nigerian currency) for the Dutch-Nigerian center forward, which will eclipse the money the Italian club paid for him in 2022.
The Gunners are ready to sign a new striker in the summer and are reportedly open to selling Brazil international Gabriel Jesus to help their pursuit.
They have been linked with a host of names including Super Eagles star forward Victor Osimhen but may be priced out of a move for him.
Zirkzee is way cheaper than Osimhen and having been enjoying a stellar signing with Bologna, clubs within and outside the Serie A are vying for his signature.
Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Napoli are the teams that have been heavily linked with the Bayern Munich Academy product as well as Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United.
He has a €40m release clause but that can only be triggered by Bayern Munich which means other suitors will have to cough out more to sign him.
The Netherlands youth international has notched 12 goals and seven assists across all competitions this season.
