Arsenal and Man City players eligible for Super Falcons named in England squad for U17 EURO
Published: May 04, 2024The English Football Association on Saturday morning announced the Young Lionesses 20-player roster for the fifteenth edition of the UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship, with two Super Falcons-eligible players part of the group.
Versatile Arsenal midfielder Omotara Junaid and Manchester City forward Jane Oboavwoduo have been selected in the squad by head coach Natalie Henderson.
Jane Oboavwoduo has been promoted to England's U17 national team, having previously played for the U16s.
The Manchester City starlet is in line to play her first-ever competitive match for the Young Lionesses this month and become provisionally cap-tied to England.
Junaid became provisionally cap-tied to England in March after making her first competitive appearance for the Young Lionesses in their opening game of the Elite Round of the 2024 UEFA Women's U17 EURO.
England will open group play against Norway on Sunday at Klostergårdens Idrottsplats in Lund, followed by games against hosts Sweden at the same venue on May 8, before concluding the group stage against France on May 11.
Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre was a key member of the England squad to the 2014 UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship, scoring in a group game against Austria.
Another dual-national player Rinsola Babajide turned out for the Young Lionesses before switching her allegiance to the Super Falcons.
