As the Golden Eaglets continue their preparations for the 2024 WAFU U-17 Zone B Tournament in Ghana, the team was handed its first defeat in the course of preparation by Morak FC in Abuja on Friday.
Exciting kids Emmanuel Alefune and Godstime Matthew were the goalscorers in the 2-0 victory for Morak FC
All players paraded by Morak FC were within the age range of the Golden Eaglets as the game also provided a means for coach Manu Garba to identify talented players that can also be drafted to fortify the Nigeria U17 squad and Morak FC boys didn't disappoint.
Earlier on Friday, Morak FC had defeated AS Roma Academy 4-1 with top striker Gafar Saka scoring all four goals, he also won the Man of the Match award.
Speaking to the media after the encounter, the President of Morak FC, Mr. Olabode Morakinyo appreciated the coaching crew of the National U17 for approving the encounter.
Morakinyo expressed his admiration for Golden Eaglets head coach Manu Garba in assembling such a strong team in a brief period since taking on the role.
He added that the Golden Eaglets can qualify for the U17 World Cup given the talent showcased by the players during the friendly.
The friendly against the Golden Eaglets was a good test for Morak FC as they prepare for the NLO Youth League where they will be competing for the first time.
