Report: Chelsea retain a strong interest in signing former Super Eagles invitee
Published: May 08, 2024
Chelsea have reportedly rekindled their interest in 2021 Super Eagles invitee and Crystal Palace star Michael Olise after failing in their attempt to sign him last summer.
According to tbrfootball, the Premier League giants are now ready to offer a swap deal which will involve Raheem Sterling to Crystal Palace in exchange for the French youth international.
The Blues hierarchy are ready to let go Sterling who has struggled in his time at Stamford Bridge and are ready to use him as a sacrificial lamb to sign Olise.
They came close to signing the 22-year-old last summer but he opted to sign a contract extension at Selhurst Park in a quick change of events.
He has a release clause which is said to be over £60m and Chelsea feel they can sign him without paying a fee by offering a player to the Eagles in exchange for his services.
Armando Broja and Trevor Chalobah are the other two options they could offer but Sterling appears to be the most enticing option at the moment.
Manchester United are also big admirers of Olise who is highly rated by the INEOS group and is considered as one of their priority targets in the summer.
