'I don't think he's the right fit' - Transfer reporter reveals Zirkzee is more likely to join Arsenal than Osimhen
Published: May 09, 2024
Transfer reporter Steve Kay believes Arsenal stand a better chance of signing Joshua Zirkzee than Victor Osimhen, Ivan Toney and other strikers being linked to the club.
Arsenal have scored the most goals in the English top-flight this season but manager Mikel Arteta is not satisfied with his side's attacking artillery and wants to bolster it with the addition of a new striker this summer.
They have been linked with a host of names including Osimhen, Toney, Zirkzee and Viktor Gyökeres but there is no deal advanced yet with any of the targets with their focus being on winning the Premier League .
However, the Gunners' link to Zirkzee is becoming increasingly prominent which might indicate their interest in Bologna forward who is set to be a subject of transfer tussle in the summer.
With AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus also in the race for the 22-year-old stay, there is no gainsaying that he will.be one of hottest properties in the summer.
Speaking on KS1TV via tbrfootball,Kay believes Arsenal have a good chance of signing the young Dutch-Nigerian forward though also admits that the club is in no advance talks with him presently.
"Only that there is an interest and they like him (Zirkzee). Nothing concrete my end. They have scouted him and they have looked at him. I wouldn't say he was a guarantee, but you probably have more chance of him coming than a lot of others who have been mentioned ".
"The Toney ship has gone, I'd never heard much about Toney, the only article I did about Toney was at the end of the window, I was told Brentford would sit down with Arsenal at £55m. Nothing came of that."
"Osimhen, again, I don't think he's the right fit for Arsenal."
As stated in his release clause, Osimhen will cost close to €130m which makes him one of the most prized assets in European football and it remains to be seen whether the Gunners will be willing to cough out such a figure for him.
