Record breaker: Arsenal striker Obi-Martin handed special shirt after hat-trick against Chelsea U18s
Published: May 11, 2024
Danish-Nigerian striker Chido Obi-Martin was in stellar form for Arsenal U18s as he bagged a hat-trick during their 5-2 win over Chelsea in the last matchday of the U18 Premier League played at the Sobha Realty Training center on Saturday afternoon
The talented striker scored the opening goal from the penalty spot in the 16th minute after he was hacked down in the area by Tayo Subuloye.
Shim Mheuka restored parity for the away side through a brilliant long-range strike before Frankie Runham put them ahead in the 56th minute.
Five minutes after the hour mark Max Dowman put the home side back on level terms with a precise shot before Anglo-Nigerian forward Daniel Oyetunde made it 3-2.
Making his return from injury, Oyetunde's shot deflected into the net in the penalty area to give Arsenal the lead for the second time in the game.
Obi-Martin scored again in the 85th minute, heading the ball home from a terrific corner to give Jack Wilshere's side a two-goal lead.
He completed his hat-trick in the 12th minute of the stoppage from the penalty spot following an infringement on Dan Casey.
The Denmark U17 international ends the season with 32 goals scored in 17 League games and at the end of the game, he received a special shirt for breaking Folarin Balogun's record for most goals scored by an Arsenal player in the U18 Premier League in a single season.
