Manchester United risk missing out on Tosin with future of Ten Hag up in the air
Published: May 16, 2024
Manchester United risk missing out on signing Nigerian defender Tosin Adarabioyo due to the uncertainty surrounding the future of the club's manager, Erik ten Hag.
According to talkSPORT, Tosin has been offered no assurance that the Dutch tactician will remain at Old Trafford beyond this summer and that could influence his decision on whether to join the English giants.
The Red Devils are on the brink of missing out on European football next season and finish in their lowest position in the Premier League history, as they sit in 8th position at the moment.
They will have to beat Brighton at the American Express Stadium on Sunday and hope Newcastle lose to Frank Onyeka's Brentford to finish in seventh, which is the last European spot.
While they can still qualify for the UEFA Europa League by beating Manchester City in the final of the FA Cup at Wembley on May 25, the likelihood of that remains slim at the moment.
Due to the precious situation of the club, there is a discussion within the hierarchy on whether to stick with ten Hag, with England manager Gareth Southgate, and Brentford boss Thomas Frank, being linked as his replacements.
With the uncertainty regarding their managerial position, Tosinmight be forced to look elsewhere, where there is certainty about the manager's position which will have an influence on his game time if he joins the club.
This informs the earlier report that Newcastle are the front runners for his signature, with the defender said to be keen on working with Eddie Howe.
