Leeds United set up a Championship playoff final with either Joe Aribo's Southampton or Semi Ajayi's West Brom after thrashing Norwich City 4-0 at Elland Road on Thursday night. 

Goals from Ilia Gruev, Joel Piroe, Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville secured a comfortable win for Daniel Farke's side.

The 2024 Championship playoff final is set to take place on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Wembley Stadium.

The Championship playoff final is widely acknowledged as the most lucrative match in professional football, with the winner potentially receiving over £100 million in television revenue and Premier League payments.

Southampton and West Brom qualified for the playoffs by virtue of finishing fourth and fifth respectively in the regular season.

The Saints and Baggies will do battle at St Mary's Stadium in the second leg of the Championship playoff semifinal on Friday night, with the tie finely poised after the first leg at The Hawthorns on Sunday afternoon ended in a goalless draw between the two teams.

Aribo went the distance in the first leg, whereas his international teammate Ajayi is no longer a guaranteed starter for the Baggies these days, coming off the bench for the last nine minutes 

West Brom boss Carlos Corberan has to make a call on the selection of another Super Eagles player Josh Maja for the playoff semifinal second leg clash after he was omitted from the gameday squad on May 12. 

Ajayi, Aribo and Maja have played in the Premier League in the past and will be aiming to help their respective teams reach the promised land.
