Chelsea closing in on deal for Nigerian striker who shares the same agent with Romeo Lavia
Published: May 24, 2024
Chelsea are on the verge of signing talented Nigerian striker Ibrahim Hafiz Umar, who shares the same agent with Belgium international Roméo Lavia.
As reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are said to be close to agreeing a deal with Nigerian outfit Ojodu City Academy for the services of Umar.
However, it appears that there is a dilemma on whether to sign him for the Academy or let him leave on loan for Strasbourg just like ngelo and Andrey Santos.
Since BlueCo took over as Chelsea owners, they have been committed to signing young players around the world with Umar and Brazilian talented forward Estevão Willian looking to be their next acquisitions.
Umar caught the attention of the Blues and other European heavyweights in popular youth international competition Viareggio Cup, where he won the highest goalscorer award with 10 goals scored.
He was earlier reported to be close to joining Norwegian side FK Bodo/Glimt but the move was denied by the club manager Kjetil Knutsen.
The Ojodu City Academy product's future is now looking clearer, with Chelsea now in the driving seat to secure his signing after undergoing a trial with the club.
He is set to join Carney Chukwuemeka, Lesley Ugochukwu and Noni Madueke as Nigerian players signed recently by the London-based club.
