West Ham United considering a move for history-making Nigerian forward
Published: May 24, 2024
West Ham United are reportedly considering a move to sign Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, following his phenomenal performance in the Europa League final.
The 26-year-old Nigerian international made history by becoming the first player to score a hat-trick in the Europa League final, leading Atalanta to a 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen.
According to The Mirror UK, new West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui and technical director Tim Steidten are keen on adding Lookman to the team's left-wing.
The Hammers have been struggling to find quality on the left-wing, and Lookman's impressive display in the Europa League final has made him an attractive option.
Lookman's statistics this season are impressive, with 15 goals and eight assists in 43 appearances across all competitions.
His versatility and ability to play in various positions across the attack make him a valuable asset for any team.
While West Ham's interest in Lookman is understandable, the Hammers may face challenges in securing his signature.
His historic performance in the Europa League final has likely increased his market value, and the club may need to break the bank to sign him.
Additionally, the ongoing spot-fixing charges against Lucas Paqueta may limit West Ham's financial resources.
Nevertheless, if West Ham can secure Lookman's services, it would be a significant coup for the club.
His pace, skill, and goal-scoring ability would undoubtedly strengthen the team's attack, and his experience playing in the Europa League would be invaluable.
