Butler-Oyedeji battles Declan Rice, Trossard, Vivianne Miedema, 5 others for Arsenal Goal of the Month
Published: May 25, 2024
Nathan Butler-Oyedeji's brilliant finish for Arsenal U21s in their 6-2 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League 2 playoffs has been nominated for Arsenal's Goal of the Month for May.
Three minutes before the end of the first half, James Sweet received the ball after a quick and swift exchange of passes which stemmed from the defense, passed it to Oyedeji who rounded the goalkeeper before curling the ball home.
He also opened the scoring in the 14th minute, having put the ball behind the back of the net after his initial shot was blocked by a defender.
His 42nd minute strike against the Young Red Devils will compete with Amario Cozier-Duberry goal in the same game, Leandro Trossard and Declan Rice's finish against Bournemouth as well as Takehiro Tomiyasu's goal against Everton.
Also nominated were Myle Lewis Skelly's long range strike against Chelsea U21s, Stina Blackstenius for the Women's team against Manchester City while Vivianne Miedema and Alessia Russo's goals versus Brighton complete the list.
Oyedeji wasn't at his clinical best during the regular season scoring just three goals in 12 games but was in stellar form in the playoffs having registered four goal involvements.
He ended the season with six goals and two assists across all competitions.
