Rangers star Igboke makes one promise ahead of linking up with Super Eagles squad for WCQs
Published: May 30, 2024
Enugu Rangers defender Kenneth Obinna Igboke, who was recently called up to the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin, has promised to be a good ambassador of the club and the league at the national camp.
The youthful left-back who has distinguished himself for the Flying Antelopes since breaking into the senior team last season from the junior ream, is very glad to have been offered the opportunity to defend the colors of Nigeria at the senior level.
Igboke has thanked the coaches, administrators, and colleagues that gave him the privilege.
The fullback has the knack for joining the attack from the wing to deliver pin-point crosses as well as getting amongst the goals.
Speaking to Rangers media, Igboke said: "I am indeed delighted with this opportunity extended to me and I promise to make the best possible use of it to ensure that our country's flag is hoisted at the next FIFA World Cup 2026.
"I feel so excited, I feel so happy to have been given this chance and I promise to be an excellent ambassador of my club, Rangers International F.C and the NPFL, organizers of the league where we showcase our talent every week."
He further stated: "I have the confidence that it would be a worthwhile experience for me and other home-based invitees to ensure we make room for more to be invited.
"With my fans' and club members' prayers and support, I shall defend our nation creditably."
At their training session at 'The Cathedral,' players, coaches, and backroom staff of the 'Flying Antelopes' formed a guard of honor for the Super Eagles invitee.
They offered prayers for Igboke's positive impact in the Super Eagles as he joins the senior national team camp in Uyo on Friday, May 31, 2024, to prepare for the game against South Africa's Bafana Bafana at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
