Super Eagles stars Ajayi, Bassey, Onuachu, Onyeka, Osayi-Samuel land in Uyo pre-Bafana Bafana

Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Frank Onyeka and Paul Onuachu have arrived at the Uyo airport in preparation for the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against South Africa, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The five players have been hindered from joining the rest of the squad due to the nationwide strike instituted by the Nigeria Labour Congress on Monday following their disagreement with the Federal Government on the new minimum wage.
As a result, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria grounded all their activities and thus affecting the ditto players from joining up with the squad who started training on Sunday.
However, with the NLC suspending their strike temporarily, for five days, activities have resumed at the various airports across the country.
Coach Finidi George has been forced to work with 15 players in preparation for his first game in charge as the substantive coach of the Super Eagles and must be glad with the new development.
The arrival of the five players is no doubt a boost for the three-time Africa Champions who have to get their World Cup qualification campaign going after a slow start that has seen them pick two points out of a possible six.
They will bring the number of players in camp to 20 with Hale End Academy product Alex Iwobi, Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and red-hot Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman also expected to join the squad as soon as possible.
