Snapped: Iwobi, Lookman report for Super Eagles duty Wednesday, spotted at London airport
Published: June 05, 2024
Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi and Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman should report for international duty in Uyo on Wednesday, all things being equal.
As at the time of this report, the Nigeria internationals were still at the airport in London (as pictured) waiting to board their flight to Nigeria.
According to their itinerary, Iwobi and Lookman will touch down in Nigeria at dawn before connecting another flight to Uyo, venue of the meeting between the Super Eagles and Bafana Bafana on Friday.
Nigeria coach Finidi George faces a big decision on whether to include the duo in the starting lineup against South Africa, considering the fact that they missed a large chunk of preparations.
Lookman is not lacking match fitness having played a total of 146 minutes across Atalanta's last two games, with his most recent appearance being on Sunday.
But the same cannot be said of Iwobi who has been inactive since going the distance for Fulham in a 4-2 win at Luton Town on the final day of the 2023-2024 Premier League season on May 19, 2024.
Late arrivals in camp Calvin Bassey, Paul Onuachu, Frank Onyeka, Semi Ajayi and Bright Osayi-Samuel were involved in the Super Eagles training session on Tuesday evening.
Apart from Iwobi and Lookman, Udinese glovesman Maduka Okoye is also being expected to link up with his international teammates in Uyo.
