Newcastle United line up up possible move for Chelsea's Nigerian winger as alternative to Olise
Published: June 14, 2024
After Michael Olise, Newcastle have been linked with a move for another Super Eagles-eligible winger as they seek to beef up their squad this summer.
According to The i, the Magpies are interested in signing Noni Madueke in case they fail in their pursuit to land the highly sought-after Olise.
The Magpies have deemed it paramount to sign a right winger in this transfer window with Miguel Almiron set to depart the club having garnered interest from the Saudi Pro League.
Newcastle United have reportedly contacted Olise over a possible move but they face stiff competition from Chelsea and Bayern Munich in the race for his signature and as a result are exploring a move for Madueke.
The St James Park outfit are said to be hoping that they can use their existing relationship with the Blues to sign the former PSV forward, having signed Lewis Hall on a loan deal from the London-based side last summer.
Madueke had a stellar end to the campaign with the Blues last season, starting their last nine Premier League games and registering five goal involvements.
The England youth international's place in the starting lineup might now be at risk particularly with the arrival of a new manager Enzo Maresca and the possible signing of Olise.
