Transfer guru reckons Chelsea striker in pole position to replace Osimhen
Published: June 15, 2024
Transfer guru Alfredo PedullĂ has reckoned that Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is in pole position to replace Victor Osimhen if the latter departs Napoli this summer.
The Blues want to offload the Belgian forward who has already been on loan with Inter Milan and Roma in the past two seasons but the English outfit wants to dispose of him completely this summer.
Napoli seems to be his likeliest destination with the new manager of the Italian side Antonio Conte having a good working relationship with him, as both worked together successfully at Inter Milan, winning the Scudetto in 2020/2021 season.
Osimhen has made up his mind to leave the Parthenopeans this summer though no team is willing to match his transfer valuation but the Italian side are already looking for his replacement.
Speaking to SportItalia via Area Napoli , PedullĂ has reckoned that Lukaku is the most likely player to replace the Nigeria international if he leaves Naples.
"Victor Osimhen doesn't want to go to Saudi Arabia and Napoli will not receive the offer of 130 million euros. PSG and the others will push themselves to the maximum of 80 million.
"And if this offer were to arrive, what will they do? De Laurentiis? Let's keep Lukaku on pole as his replacement, but also alternatives like Gimenez and Dovbyk."
The hurdle facing Osimhen right now is that he is not close to getting his dream move to the Premier League with Chelsea and Arsenal unwilling to pay his release clause and the duo may have shifted their focus elsewhere.
However, it is still early days in the transfer window and the 25-year-old may still get to join a Premier League side.
