Man Utd joined by AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund in pursuit of Flying Eagles-eligible striker
Published: June 15, 2024
Manchester United are among the European powerhouses interested in signing Flying Eagles-eligible striker Oghenetejiri Adejenughure.
The 17-year-old has put himself in the shop window after his impressive performances for Austria during the 2024 European U17 Championship, scoring four goals in four matches and finishing as the competition's second top scorer.
He bagged braces in matches against Denmark and Serbia, taking his tally to eight goals in twelve appearances for Austria U17s.
According to The Express UK, Manchester United have held talks with Adejenughure's camp to discuss the possibility of a transfer.
United face competition from AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund for the services of the Austrian-Nigerian forward.
Adejenughure is widely regarded as one of Austria's top talents, with Ralf Rangnick, coach of Austria's senior national team, earmarking him as a player with huge potential.
He has been playing for Red Bull Salzburg youth teams since 2021, after stints with First Vienna FC and Rapid Vienna.
The highly-rated forward played a significant role as Red Bull Salzburg won the ÖFB Jugendliga U18 in 2023-2024, netting 16 goals in 20 matches in the division.
Although Adejenughure is happy at Salzburg, he's open to a move to a top foreign club if it would benefit his development.
