Chelsea make decision on future of Chukwuemeka amid links with AC Milan
Published: June 29, 2024
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed Chelsea's stance on letting Super Eagles-eligible midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka leave this summer.
This follows a report from Gianluca Di Marzio claiming that AC Milan were interested in signing the 20-year-old and were planning on making a loan offer with an intention to buy to Chelsea for him.
Romano has disclosed that the Blues are happy to keep the England youth international and aren't ready to let him leave on a loan deal but would welcome an outright purchase if they receive a good bid.
Chukwuemeka still has four years left on his contract with the Premier League outfit and will command a sizable fee if he were to leave Stamford Bridge in the current transfer window.
The England youth international is being targeted by the Rossoneri as one of the players who could help fortify their midfield after signing Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Yunus Musah and Tijjani Reijnders to bolster the department last summer.
It remains to be seen whether Chukwuemeka will be open to joining the Italian giants just after two seasons at Chelsea, particularly with the arrival of a new manager and the possibility of the club signing a new midfielder.
He has featured in just 27 games across all competitions for the two-time European champions since arriving from Aston Villa in the summer of 2022.
