Italian newspaper reveals the one club ready to pay release clause of Arsenal-linked striker Osimhen
Published: June 30, 2024
According to Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica, via Tutto Napoli, Saudi Arabian Pro League club Al-Ahli are still strongly interested in Victor Osimhen and are ready to pay his release clause.
Al-Ahli attempted to sign Victor Osimhen last summer but a monster bid was rejected by Napoli.
The Saudi club have not given up their pursuit of the reigning African Footballer of the Year and are prepared to satisfy all of Napoli's conditions to finalize the deal.
However, the stumbling block to the proposed deal is the fact that Osimhen does not want to move to Saudi Arabia at this stage of his career.
The 130 million euros clause has prevented the European clubs interested in his signature from submitting a bid, ranging from Arsenal to Paris Saint-Germain.
Chelsea and Manchester United were also priced out of a deal and have turned their attention to cheaper and younger alternatives.
New Napoli boss Antonio Conte admitted at a press conference last week that the Super Eagles striker was not in his plans for the forthcoming season.
Arsenal have reportedly made prolific Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres their top target after Benjamin Sesko decided to remain at Bundesliga club RB Leipzig for at least another season.
Osimhen earns ten million euros per season at Napoli and without Champions League football in 2024-2025, his wages would be a financial burden on the Blues if he is not sold.
