N214 billion valuation: Arsenal and Man Utd want Napoli to slash Osimhen's release clause
Published: July 01, 2024
According to Il Matino via Calcio Napoli, Manchester United and Arsenal want Napoli to reduce the release clause of Victor Osimhen which has been said to be close to €130m (approximately N214 billion).
The Premier League giants have been admirers of the Super Eagles forward but will only go further in their pursuit to secure his services if Napoli can reduce his transfer fee.
Manchester United are in the market for a striker to address the goal-scoring problems that plagued them in the last campaign and with the arrival of new Sporting Director Dan Ashworth, their pursuit for one could gather more pace.
They are still in talks with Dutch-Nigerian striker Joshua Zirkzee who is currently with the Dutch national team in the 2024 European championship and it remains to be seen how far they will go in trying to get Osimhen.
There have been talks of the club wanting to sacrifice Mason Greenwood in their offer offer for the 25-year-old but there is no concrete development regarding that at the moment.
Mikel Arteta also wants to add more firepower to their attack by signing a new striker with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah not doing enough for his side.
They have missed out on primary target Benjamin Šeško and are now exploring alternatives as the start of the new season gets closer.
The Gunners lost the Premier League title narrowly last season and the addition of Osimhen to their team may be what they need to relinquish the title from Manchester City.
Napoli may have no choice other than to do the bidding of the English clubs as only Al-Ahli are ready to pay his current release clause but the Nigerian striker isn't ready to join the Saudi Pro League side.
